:: 30 Hour Famine ::
:: This Year ::
April 27th & 28th, location TBD
Go ahead and eat lunch at school and then we will all begin fasting together at 1pm.
Arrive at the host church at 6pm. We will end with debriefing of the experience and a potluck feast to break our fast at 5pm Saturday evening. (Your parents are invited to join us for sharing and dinner.) We will be doing some really cool things in in the community - but we will spend most of our time at the church.
We're asking you to raise at least $20 from friends or neighbors that would like to sponsor you. Money will be collected at the door when you sign in. All money raised will be sent in to World Vision. One easy fundraising idea is to get a tshirt from Michael's or AC Moore or maybe an old one from your drawer and cut it into bracelet strips. You can braid them, or just use single strips - and sell them for a buck or two. There are tons of DIY sites online that can help!

:: 2010 ::
The
30 Hour Famine is an National Event done in local communities to raise
awareness about world hunger, poverty, and disease. Churches sign up
with World Vision and hold a lock-in where students fast together, play
together, learn together and do local service projects. 2010's
famine was hosted at Christ Church, Christiana Hundred. Trinity Parish,
St Thomas, Immanuel Highlands, Saints Andrew & Matthew, and Christ
Church Dover all participated. In the morning we split into 3 teams -
some upper classmen went on a prayer walk in Wilmington with a homeless
guide. The other students either served at Winter Sanctuary or the
Delaware Food Bank. All the black and white photos below are of the
Prayer Chapel where we prayed (experientially) through the Millenium
Development Goals.
